Name: Serizzo.
Also called Sarizzo.
Granitic material from the Gneiss family.
Extracted from the Ossola Valley basin, it was already widely used in Roman times. Transported on barges in the Ticino river, it reached Pavia, Milan and all over the cities of the Po valley. Today, the wide availability of blocks and the excellent quality / price ratio make it a very reliable and widely used material, both in the domestic and foreign markets.
Depending on the area of extraction, it can have different names such as: “Antigorio”, “Formazza”, “Ghiandone Val Masino” etc.
It is used in construction for window sills, thresholds, stair cladding, external facade cladding but also in furniture and funerary art. It lends itself very well to all processes and uses, both for interiors and exteriors.
