It has branched veins that make it unique and can be light brown with chestnut-colored veins or green with darker veins and in this case it takes the name of Forest Green.
It is a serpentinite, i.e. a rock that originated from a set of chemical and physical reactions (“serpentinization” process) which gave rise to a material with a reticular design reminiscent of snake skin.
The various colors it assumes depend on the presence of different minerals that have been mixed “in a workmanlike manner” creating unique shades and veins. Having a crystalline structure, if it is cut into thin slabs it is slightly transparent.
Forest Brown is endowed with high compactness, resistance and solidity; it has a high coefficient of hardness and high bending strength.
It is particularly resistant to scratches and wear; however it is sensitive to acids and therefore needs some attention and care.
Being a precious material and sensitive to acid rain, Forest Brown is mainly used indoors or outdoors, but in well-sheltered areas.
It can be used to make floors, walls and stairs. Being an “effect” stone, it is particularly suitable for making kitchen tops, bathroom and wall cladding and as a furnishing element for making tables, shelves, sinks.
Thanks to the presence of veins, it can be used for book-matched floors and walls.
The most common finishes on this stone are polishing, smoothing and especially brushing which has the advantage of emphasizing the harder parts, enhancing their rough and natural character.
It is a material that fits perfectly both in homes with a more classic or rustic taste and in those with a more contemporary character, as it has a certain versatility, without having an invasive effect on the rooms.
