Dark quartzite, also called “Indian Dark Brown Quartzite” is a metamorphic rock composed almost exclusively of quartz, which is extracted in India.
Quartz is a mineral endowed with remarkable stability and not easily alterable and for this reason quartzite has characteristics that make it truly perfect for any use.
The quarries from which our materials come guarantee a constant production all year round and of excellent quality, but on which factors do the different colors that the quartzite takes depend on?
Dark quartzite and gray quartzite belong to the same type of mineral and the quarries they come from are the same, which develop underground.
These materials are influenced by the soil above which is rich in oxides.
In particular, the oxides, through the rain, penetrate the soil and gradually into the mineral, giving it the warmest color of the earth.
The more we go down in the mining activity, the more this effect fades and we will have partly dark colored blocks with gray shades that will gradually become predominant until we get to entirely gray blocks as the effect of natural dyes will be completely lost.
The dark quartzite also has some color variations including the gold one, with a brown tint tending towards straw yellow.
Not only blocks are extracted from the quartzite quarries but also natural split quarry artifacts are obtained which are materials worked and sculpted by hand on site, by hand, such as tiles, curbs, covers and elements with considerable thicknesses.
The surfaces of these materials, rough and irregular, combined with the chromatic variations of the stone that gather warm tones from brown, have decreed a considerable success in recent years.
Dark quartzite is used both in all internal environments to make floors, coverings, stairs, kitchen tops, window sills and counter-sills, fireplaces and in external environments for sidewalks, driveways, courtyards.
Its non-slip surface is really ideal for pool edges.
The finishes most commonly used on dark quartzite are flamed, brushed, honed, polished and naturally split, as we said above.
Its brown color makes it elegant and very contemporary whatever the chosen finish, it also combines perfectly with other stones and materials such as aluminum, glass and wood. For this reason it is highly appreciated by architects and designers.
The resistance of this material to frost and sudden changes in temperature, resistance to acids, impact resistance and easy maintenance mean that this product is truly eternal and long-lasting as it is capable of maintaining the chromatic characteristics and its beauty unchanged over time.
