The choice of outdoor materials, whether it be for floors, stairs, thresholds, windowsills and low walls or wall cladding, is of considerable importance, as it can completely transform the appearance of a home or commercial building.
When it comes to choosing the most suitable stone, the evaluation cannot be based solely on aesthetic and design criteria, but must take into consideration specific technical properties that the material must possess.
First of all, the stone must be antifreeze or resistant to frost, sudden changes in temperature and other atmospheric agents such as rain, hail, wind and humidity.
It is good that it is also resistant to dirt and dust which are inevitably very present in outdoor spaces.
It is also essential that the materials are resistant to wear, frequent trampling, heavy loads and the passage of time. The stone must also be non-slip, especially when used to create pool edges and garden paths.
Finally, the material must be easy to maintain and clean and have low absorption.
There are several natural materials that meet these requirements and which, at the same time, blend perfectly with the exterior: natural stones, compared to other materials on the market, lend themselves particularly well to achieving a balance with the surrounding environment in terms of colours, nuances and veins and therefore represent an ideal choice.
So which are the marbles, stones and granites that most satisfy all the requirements listed above?
Among the marbles, we believe Botticino and Vratza are the best, as they are particularly resistant to frost, a requirement which instead makes Melania Beige/Thala less suitable.
Fossena stone and Piasentina stone are also recommended.
Marbles are undoubtedly capable of giving elegance, class and style wherever they are laid.
Among the best types of outdoor stones we find Indian quartzites, in their various colours, with excellent both technical and aesthetic properties: they are water resistant, easy to maintain and therefore widely used for terraces, stairs and window sills and for edges swimming pool as non-slip. They are also versatile as they adapt perfectly to various styles.
Due to their mechanical qualities, all or almost all granites are the materials with the best performance in terms of resistance and inalterability over time. the materials that, based on our many years of experience, we can recommend are serizzo, beola favalle, Luserna stone, Sardinian granites and Indian granites, such as Shivakashi and Juparanà India.
In the creation of gardens, courtyards and in general for outdoor areas, porphyry cubes and Luserna stone are also in great demand. They are easy to clean materials, resistant to humidity and acids, suitable for a rustic or modern outdoor space.
