It is a rock of volcanic origin generated by the cooling of incandescent magma under the earth’s crust, under very high pressure conditions.
It has a very fine, black and homogeneous grain with dots due to the presence of crystallines and which can be more or less dark gray in colour. Commercially it is classified as a granite even if it is actually a “gabbro”, i.e. a rock that is always magmatic but with lower percentages of silicates than actual granites.
Nero Assoluto Zimbabwe is a material that is extracted in large volumes and is available in fair quantities: blocks of regular size and shape are usually extracted and there are types with grains that differ slightly from each other.
The considerable volume of absolute black production means that it is often used in the construction of large projects.
What favors its use for significant projects are undoubtedly also its technical characteristics: it is a material with considerable hardness and resistance to bending and compression, furthermore the homogeneity of color and grain make it very reliable and therefore they encourage its use.
Being an elegant and impressive material, if in the past it was mainly used in the funeral sector, today it finds a happy place in the housing sector in the construction of ultra-modern and prestigious homes, adapting perfectly to any style.
It is used both indoors and outdoors: internally we can mention floors, walls, kitchen tops and bathrooms. Various hotel lobbies and shopping center floors have been created in absolute black; externally we can mention coverings of houses and palaces.
The processes best able to enhance the intrinsic characteristics of this stone are first of all polishing thanks to its particular brilliance but today flaming, brushing and satin finishing are also widely used, especially in outdoor environments and in claddings.
Nero Assoluto is a material that is easy to maintain but, as we often underline when speaking of our materials, requires some small additional attention: we recommend cleaning with the use of Marseille soap dissolved in hot water, which does not leave streaks, and then drying with a well wrung out micro fiber cloth.
Acidic, aggressive products or products rich in chemical agents (abrasive products, bleach, lemon and limescale remover) should be used with caution because they could stain the delicate and porous surface of a stone which is particularly durable and constant over time.
